It’s all about the head. Spend some quality time with a three-way mirror and contemplate your head as sculpture. There are definitely taper-type guys and “natural“-type guys. The taper (in which one’s hair is shaved upward with electric clippers on the back of one’s neck) has a slight military flavor; the alternative, straight-across cut is more senatorial. Personally, I avoid the taper because I want my hair to look the same every day, and going quite short always gives a kind of phases-of-the-moon progression between haircuts.
