Even if your eyebrows are starting to look a little...Brezhnev-y, it’s still not a great idea to have them wad. Because wax removes all hair it contacts, the perfect edges it creates can make you look like, well, a girl. Spend a little time (and less money) on a set of tweezers and hunker down in front of the mirror instead. For outcroppings of ear and nose hair, on the other hand, waxing can be a godsend. Compared with that of simple trimming, waxing’s effect is more thorough and lasts longer (about a month or so); it’s also subtle enough when done on your nose and ears that it doesn’t look unnatural—just clean. A nose or ear session will run you about $30 at a high-end salon like John Barrett in New York. Oh, and if you’re worried about the pain, don’t be: It’s no worse than pulling off a Band-Aid.
